How We Met

Kellijean and I first met during the monthly lindy-hop dance event at the American Legion Hall in Pompano Beach, FL on a Saturday night in August 2003. Since I had been dancing fairly regularly here in South Florida, I knew most of the people there. It was not difficult to spot a new follow (girl), especially one as pretty as Kellijean! She was seated a few seats back from the dance floor, so I could not be sure that she was interested in dancing. Since she was chatting with some people I knew, I figured that I could find out. Shortly after making my way over to her, I was introduced and she and I began talking. Right about then our picture was taken. You can see the picture right on this website!

We danced a few songs, and had lots of fun. I introduced the new follow to my cadre of friends, and before we knew it the dance was ending. The group decided to head out to DennyÕs for some late-night snacking. Of course, we invited Kellijean. She was a perfect addition to the group.

Since my birthday was approaching as it tends to do that time of year, I invited her to a party at my place. Unfortunately she couldnÕt make it to the party, but the invitation was a not-so subtle ploy to get her phone number.

That following Friday as I made the drive back from a business trip in Sarasota, I called Kellijean and made plans to take her out that night. After learning that she is an artist, I decided that Cafe Tu Tu Tango would be the perfect place. Ever since then, we have been together almost every weekend.
